Contribution of to the development of society by providing access to higher education to  students from low-income and vulnerable families  

Project Duration: 2025 – ongoing

Location: 50 vulnerable students from Gyumri, Vanadzir , Artashat, Gavar and Tashir

Overall Objective: To assist 50-60 students from low-income and vulnerable families to receive higher education thus contributing to their personal and professional growth.

 

Project Outputs:

Output 1- Provide proof of financial need (unemployed parents, low-income family, etc.)

Output 2- Provide University transcripts with good or excellent grades.

 

Project activities

1.1 Contribution of to the development of society by providing access to higher education to (60) students from low-income and vulnerable families in Armenia.

International Study Visit

From May 6th to 12th, 2024, an international study visit titled “Study on the Success of the Social Economy” will be held in Greece. We extend invitations to the key local stakeholders from Tchambarak community to participate in this international study visit.

 

The international study visit is being organized by “Armenian Caritas” Benevolent NGO within the framework of “Socio-Economic EcoSEstem Development in Tchambarak united Community” (EcoSE) project, in cooperation with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) under the “Strengthening Civil Society in Eastern Partnership Countries” program. The program is funded by the German government and co-financed by the European Union (EU).

Sabine: Children and Youth Assistance Services

Family type alternative care service for children in difficult life situations

Project duration: 01.05.2021-01.05.2024

Location: Vanadzor, Lori Region

Number of beneficiaries: Up to 10 children and their families

Goal: In Lori Region, the right to grow up in a safe family type and nurturing environment is  upheld  for  children in difficult life situations

Description: The Project suggests Small Group Home as an alternative care option for those children who due to lack of opportunities to live with their biological families,

Title of the project: Institutionalising a Volunteer First Responder Service in Armenia (VolFiRe)

The Civil Protection system in Armenia is currently mainly based on professional responders from governmental institutions. They are to a large extent on-duty firefighters and other paid staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES). But Armenia has numerous remote areas particularly affected by the limited coverage through the regional fire and rescue services.

Project Duration: 1 year

Number of Beneficiaries: 10

Location: Gyumri, Gavar

Goal: Promotes the growth of fertility

Description:  The Armenian Caritas  BNGO, with the sponsorship of the Martinyan charity Foundation, will pay quarterly money to 10 families, 5 of which are from Gyumri and 5 from Gavar, for 3 or more children born in the family after January 2024, until the child reaches the age of 6 years.

Project Evaluation

1.Background information

“Armenian Caritas” was founded in 1995 by the Armenian Catholic Church with the extensive support from the Catholic Relief Services.

“Armenian Caritas,” which has ‘Benevolent NGO status,’ focuses its efforts on social protection and care, community-based development programs to improve the living and educational conditions, to improve public health to the most vulnerable social groups, migration and integration to implement sustainable reintegration measures for returnees and humanitarian and development activities. Since the beginning of its work, “Armenian Caritas” has provided direct assistance to thousands of people in 125 communities of Armenia.

Little Green Guardians: Eco Learning Hub

Project Duration:  01.11.2023 – 30.04.2024

Number of Beneficiaries: 250 children, 200 children from the community

Location: Vanadzor

 

Goal: To establish an integrated environmental education hub within the day care center premises, fostering a generation of environmentally conscious citizens from an early age.  

 Description: The project aims to address environmental issues by  establishing an environmental education hub within the day care center premises. This hub will develop and implement age-appropriate educational programs and materials to raise environmental awareness among children.

Warm Winter for Children

Project Duration: 1 year

Number of Beneficiaries: 150

Location: Shirak region

 

Goal:  To improve the living conditions of 150 socially vulnerable families

Description:

  • Distribution of heating means increases the living standard of 150 socially vulnerable families;
  • Training, productive assets and cash distribution to improve and stabilize the economic situation of 20 families;
  • Scholarships to 20 children aged 16-25 to make them more independent and self-confident for their future life

 

Grandma’s Kitchen: Sharing Recipes, Sharing Memories

Project Duration: 02.11.2023 – 31.12.2023

Number of Beneficiaries: 200

Location: Gyumri, Vanadzor

 

Goal: The project is an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing the well-being of 200 elderly individuals in Gyumri and Vanadzor. With a focus on nutrition and social interaction, this project seeks to provide essential food support and create a sense of companionship for our elderly citizens.

Description:       The “Grandma’s Kitchen: Sharing Recipes, Sharing Memories” project, led by Armenian Caritas, aims to enhance the well-being of 200 elderly individuals in Gyumri and Vanadzor.

Increasing resilience and community integration of war-affected households bordering communities and those displaced from Artsakh

Project Duration: 2023 October 1 – 2024 October 1

Number of Beneficiaries: 100 – 120 HH

Location: Goris, Tegh, Tatev

Goal: Increasing Resilience and Community Integration

Description: Provision of agricultural tools,  repair of   shelters,   provision of small grant

RELIS: Reconstructing Lives For Strenghtening

Project duration: 20 months, 01.11.2023-30.06.2025

Project implementation area: The Republic of Armenia, Lori region

Direct beneficiaries:

  • Displaced households from Nagorno-Karabakh, temporarily or permanently living in Lori region,
  • Local households in Lori region, a member of which was affected by the conflict (wounded, victim, missing, captive, returned from captivity).

Number of beneficiaries: 120 households/ 750 individuals

 

Project goal:

Conflict-affected households have successfully regained social and economic self-reliance.
