Before the second war in Nagorno-Karabakh, Nikol Marukyan lived with his family in Kovsakan. He was engaged in his favourite work of beekeeping, in this way earning living for the family. The war changed a lot in their life. They had to leave everything in Kovsakan and come to Armenia. “The beehives remained on the other side, we couldn’t bring them”, – says 53-year-old Nikol noting that in Lori province, where the family lives now, his greatest wish was to return to his former lifestyle and do his favourite work again. That is why when he learnt about this project from the employees of Armenian Caritas, he expressed his desire to engage in beekeeping. “To start business I participated in the trainings and presented my business idea and received grant to purchase beehives and fulfill my project”,- tells Nikol, expressing hope that already next autumn he’ll enjoy the results of his and bees’ work. “Certainly, the support of Armenian Caritas is great, the number of my beehives immediately increased. Now it’s early to speak about the income but in next autumn I am sure everything will be better. When summer comes, we’ll try to find what was lost”,- says Nikol, expressing his gratitude to all staff of Armenian Caritas and especially the trainer, due to him his business knowledge increased.
