My name is Arpine Tumanyan. Since September 2019 I have been teaching English and dancing classes at “Sabine” Small Group House as a volunteer.
Volunteering plays an important role in my life. The work that I do at Sabine is not just volunteering for me it is a way to help and work with children. For about 2 years it has been a great achievement for me to know and love various children, to understand them, to try to show them the right path and help them overcome different hardships. As a result of our classes, the children began to understand and love the Engish language. They have also gained cultural virtues and now appreciate the dances of different nations.
One of the girls, who is in the 10th grade, chose the topic of dance as an individual project for her English class. She had presented her work and previously gained knowledge with such enthusiasm that got the highest mark. It proved to me once again that children enjoy attending our classes and are able to combine their newly acquired skills.
At Sabine I have become skilled at such spheres that I can use them in my future.
Volunteering has always been highly valued by me, as it allows me to make use of my abilities not as a duty but as a pleasant pastime.
