The mayor of Gyumri, Vardges Samsonyan recognized Zvart Najarian, founder, consultant and board member of “Armenian Caritas” benevolent NGO as a key contributor to the community. Among the guests at the reception were the director of “Armenian Caritas” NGO, Gagik Tarasyan, head of programs, Anahit Gevorgyan, and public relations officer Armenuhi Mkhoyan.
In his speech,Vardges Samsonyan welcomed the guests to Gyumri, then highlighted the activities of “Armenian Caritas” NGO and various social programs in Gyumri which are aimed at improving the social condition of hundreds of individuals/families and supporting community development.

BACKGROUND
More than 90,000 people were displaced when war broke out between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh (NK) on September 27, 2020. A Russian-brokered peace agreement went into effect on November 10, 2020 stipulating that Armenia and Azerbaijan would maintain control of the territories they held respectively at the end of the conflict,
A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, and the Armenian Community Benevolent NGO to protect the interests of migrants, displaced persons, and the victims of the 44-day Artsakh war.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has provided support to the charitable public activities of “Armenian Caritas” for the implementation of sectoral programs, to provide and to develop the existing system of providing counseling to labor migrants (going abroad or wishing to go abroad). Background:
The number of citizens over 65 years is increasing in Armenia like in many countries in the world. The needs of elderly people are more varied than before. Their care is an important issue not only for economic reasons, but also because of citizens’ universal rights.
