Presentation of “Armenian Caritas” “Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy” document to stakeholders

12Several months ago “Armenian Caritas” launched the development of “Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy”, which aims to create a risk-free environment and to ensure the protection of children in the organization’s centers and projects relating to children. Advocacy Forum

Forum TigranOn 16-17 January, Caritas Europa organized the first Institutional Advocacy Forum in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The Forum gathered members from the newly formed Institutional Advocacy Action Group and its Reference Network for a first exchange of practices. Advocacy experts from 15 European Caritas organizations participated to discuss how Caritas does advocacy in different countries and how Caritas positions itself in relation to state authorities.

“Armenian Caritas” was founded in 1995 by the Armenian Catholic Church with the extensive support from the Catholic Relief Services.

Goal: The goal of the project is providing improved nutrition for the pre-school children of two kindergartens (Gyumri  kindergartens #5 “Smile” and #11 “Liana”) and two kindergartens in Sepasar and Ghazanchi villages.

The experience of “Armenian Caritas” in this sector shows that although officially people can access primary healthcare services funded by the state, still the essential health care needs remain unmet and a big group of vulnerable people, including children and the elderly, get deprived of elementary medical services. In its PHC center Caritas serves around 3000 persons in 4500 visits per year. The clinic holds a license of the RA Ministry of Health (RA MH) that authorizes it to provide the following PHC services.
