Migration and trafficking resource center of Armenian Caritas gathered the organizations providing hot-line service on trafficking at the roundtable. On May 13 an exhibition of Armenian traditional handicraft was launched at the museum of the Gyumri National Architecture and Urban Life. The initiative was called to life by the “Path of hope, valley of hope” NGO within the “Revival of traditional handicraft in rural community” project, which was financed by Armenian Caritas “Aramazd” social-educational development project through the community development grant funding.

The first meeting after starting formal cooperation between Armenian Caritas and RA Human Rights Defender took place at Armenian Caritas “Handicraft workshop for women” center with the members of the project. Firstly the project manager Gayane Norikyan introduced the purpose of the meeting to the attendees.

The program suggests a new approach to the migration problems in Armenia creating relations between migration and development. It also has a goal to decrease the high rate of migration from those communities of Armenia where the rate of poverty is the highest.

“Armenian Caritas” BNGO held a “Migration and trafficking: human exploitation” contest for all students of the Terlemezyan Fine Arts College. The aim of the contest was to raise awareness of population about the risks of migration and trafficking through sculptures, painting, design and other art works.

The new office of Armenian Caritas BNGO in Gavar was launched on May 3. Henceforward all projects in Gavar will be implemented at 45 house on the street after Artsruni brothers. In particular there will operate “Little Prince” social center for children, and local offices of “Aramazd Social-Educational Development” and “Home Care in Gavar” projects.

Sheltered in Armenian Catholic Center of Yerevan, 47 Syrian refugees were pleased to host the Minister of Diaspora of the RA Hranush Hakobyan in their new “home”.
There are about 7000 Syrian refugees in Armenia, who faced different problems upon arrival to their Armenian homeland. The minister, who is well aware of the situation, considerately follows up all projects that assist Syrian refugees to settle down in Armenia.

On March 12, 2013 the council of Gyumri in the reply to the letter of Armenian Caritas NGO, made a decision to rename the 15th street of Ani district as Vorarlberg, taking into account the valuable contribution of Austria’s Vorarlberg region in reconstruction of Gyumri.
The collaboration between Austria and Gyumri began in post-earthquake period, when groups of Austran volunteers arrived in Gyumri and brought with them humanitarian aid. Among the most significant contributions to the city reconstruction were the constructions of Austrian district and Austrian hospital in Gyumri.
