Armenian Caritas in action during COVID-19

During this period when doctors have been at the forefront fighting to manage the pandemic, while the rest of the population must quarantine, many difficulties arise and need to be managed collectively – at this moment, Armenia Caritas sees itself in the role of promoting actions to mitigate this situation. As soon as the state of emergency was declared, Armenia Caritas began its work in assisting the community in various sectors. Living Side By Side

In November 2019 “Armenian Caritas” BNGO launched the project “Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education for all in Armenia”. One of the goals of the project is to change the attitude of students of the colleges and Universities of Shirak region and use their potential as multipliers in the process of fast and smooth transition to inclusive education. During COVID-19 pandemic when the majority of the population, no matter of their age and social status, are lockdown, they dream just to walk in the streets having “limited capacities”. Below we present the thoughts of the students of our partner educational institutions regarding limited capacities.

A reflection for CNEWA on Armenian Caritas identity in the perspective of faith dimension Armenian Caritas is a part of the large family of Caritas Internationalis-a confederation of national Caritas organizations which all share the same mission of “Caritas”-charity of the Catholic Church to the people in need everywhere and anytime. Memorandums of Understanding were signed among Armenian Caritas BNGO and Lori, Shirak and Gegharkunik Marzpetarans (Regional Administrations).

On June 10, 13 and 20, 2019, the Governor of Lori Region Andrey Ghukasyan, the Governor of Shirak Region Tigran Petrosyan, the Governor of Gegharkunik Region Gnel Sanosyan and the Executive Director of Armenian Caritas BNGO Gagik Tarasyan signed a Memorandum of Understanding undertaking a commitment to multilateral cooperation in order to have the organization’s programs implemented in the communities of the regions more effectively. During the meetings “ARAMAZD. SMART “project was presented, which is planned to be implemented in a number of consolidated communities of Lori, Shirak, and Gegharkunik regions. The goal of the project is to promote sustainable development opportunities for rural youth through the activation of partnerships and cross-sectoral cooperation among community key stakeholders.
