Location:    4 Regions of Armenia/14 Catholic Villages

Background:   In Armenia the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 were announced in the beginning of March, 2020. On March 16, 2020, Armenia declared a state of emergency, taking measures to minimize risks of infection during the outbreak of COVID-19[1]. Actions included closure of schools and universities, prohibiting the activities of public catering facilities, trade, public events with more than 20 persons in attendance,

Tuition Fees for Vulnerable Students in Armenia

Project Duration:  8 Months.

Location: Gyumri, Vanadzir , Artashat, Gavar and Tashir

Beneficiaries: 50-60 vulnerable students from Gyumri, Vanadzir , Artashat, Gavar and Tashir.

Background:  Armenian Caritas usually receives applications from students to assist them in their educational process by providing tuition fees. These students come from vulnerable families and cannot afford paying high tuition fees. This project will provide tuition fees to students who come from low-income and vulnerable families. It will help to encourage young people to receive higher education thus contributing to the future development of society as well.

Installation of Solar Photovoltaic Small Power Station

 

Project Duration: January 01 – May 31, 2021

Location: Gyumri

Beneficiaries: Students and teachers of Gyumri branch of FAAA

Assistance to Affected Population as a Result of Conflict Escalations in Artsakh Republic during September, 2020

 

Project Duration: March 15-June 15, 2021

Location: Ararat, Gegharkunik, Lori, Shirak provinces and Yerevan

Beneficiaries: Internally displaced population affected in the result of conflict escalations

Goal: IDP from Nagorno-Karabakh meet their basic needs in the areas of displacement.

Description: IDP and conflict-affected households receive one-time targeted support.

Improvement of Social Conditions of Vulnerable Families in Gyumri, Tashir, Gavar , Vanadzor, Artashat and 10 Catholic Villages

Project: Duration 8 Months.

Location: Gyumri, Vanadzir , Artashat, Gavar and Tashir

Beneficiaries: The project will focus on most vulnerable people in Armenia that did not benefit from the state support and are struggling hardly to overcome the negative impacts of COVID-19.

Goal:

Improvement of Social Conditions of Vulnerable Families in Gyumri, Tashir, Gavar , Vanadzor, Artashat and 10 catholic villages.

Description:

To provide 500 vulnerable families with food commodities and hygienic items.

Budget:

Handicraft workshop for women. Improvement of the socio-economic conditions of woman in crisis situations

Project Duration: 24 months, 01.01.2021-31.12.2023

Beneficiaries: Direct beneficiaries:

  • women and young girls having disability
  • mothers and caregivers of CWD
  • young girls from poor families who can easily become victims of trafficking
  • girls from orphanages
  • single mothers
  • divorced women
  • mothers who have many children and whose husbands are unemployed
  • refugees and women from very poor families
  • who are subject to domestic violence.

Indirect beneficiaries:

  •  children or other dependents (family members) of the direct beneficiaries involved in the project
  • internally displaced people from Artsakh,

Emergency Assistance for Conflict-affected People from Nagorno-Karabakh

Project Duration: 14.10.2020 – 14.12.2020

Number of Beneficiaries: 600 households (3.000 individuals)

Location: Ararat Province

Goal: Conflict-affected households from Nagorno-Karabakh are able to live in dignity in areas of displacement

Specific Objective: Provide emergency assistance to conflict affected household to meet their basic needs.

With funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US Embassy in Yerevan, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in partnership in Armenian Caritas (AC) is providing urgently needed hygiene items and warm blankets (non-food items) to about 600 households (around 3.000 individuals) in Ararat province.

Rapid Response Appeal

Number of Beneficiaries:     1.000 households (about 4.000 individuals)

(target beneficiaries: 1.200 Households – 4.800 beneficiaries)

Location: Shirak, Lori and Gegharkunik Provinces

Goal: Conflict-affected population from Nagorno Karabakh live in dignity in the areas of temporary displacement in Armenia

Description:

Specific objective: Conflict-affected people meet their basic needs.

Result: Conflict-affected people use in-kind assistance.

Armenian Caritas proposes to distribute one-time in-kind food and non-food items assistance to help vulnerable households displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh meet their priority needs while they figure out their next steps amidst the uncertain situation.

Support of evacuated families from Nagorno-Kharabakh

Project Duration: 15.10.2020-15.03.2021

Beneficiaries: Internally displaced population affected in the result of conflict escalations /around 150 families/

Location: In the territory of Armenia and Artsakh

Goal: IDP and conflict-affected households from Nagorno-Karabakh are able to live in dignity in areas of displacement

Psycho-Social Support for Families of War Victims

Project Duration: November 1, 2020 – April 31, 2021

Beneficiaries: Families of war victims

Location: Gyumri, Shirak region

Goal: Provide psycho-social support for families of war victims in the Shirak region.

Description: While it is relatively straightforward to address the economic needs caused by the ravage of war, it is much more complicated to address social and psychological needs. These require thorough assessment and long-term intervention.
Through the frames of this project, the social workers and psychologists of Armenian Caritas will be trained to work with war-affected families.

Urgent support displaced families from Nagorno-Karabakh

Number of Beneficiaries: 200 families / 817 persons

Goal: To contribute to the support and protection of the most vulnerable groups of displaced families from Nagorno-Karabakh and Citizens of the Republic of Armenia.

To meet their urgent needs by providing food, hygienic items, beddings, warm clothes, medical support, shelter, rent, etc.
