On November 13, 2019, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan and Executive Director of “Armenian Caritas” Benevolent NGO Gagik Tarasyan signed a Memorandum of Understanding by which an agreement was reached to implement coordinated cooperative steps for sustainable development of communities in the Republic of Armenia.
The purpose of the Memorandum is to develop bilateral cooperation in enhancing the quality of services provided by local authorities, introducing effective governance mechanisms, implementing economic development and reform programs in consolidated communities, and many other areas aimed at improving community life. The Memorandum is also aimed at helping to expand fundraising opportunities.
Minister Suren Papikyan emphasized the precedent nature of the memorandum and expressed hope that this would serve as an example for organizations and individuals interested in community development prospects to contribute to the essential process of global empowerment in this way.
Executive Director of Armenian Caritas Gagik Tarasyan, in his turn, highlighting the importance of signing the memorandum, confirmed the readiness of the organization to take steps aimed at harmonizing joint actions and increasing efficiency.
By signing the memorandum, an agreement was also reached on co-financing the state programs aimed at the development of communities in Gegharkunik, Lori and Shirak Provinces.
