Since the day of its establishment in 1995 “Armenian Caritas” has implemented numerous projects targeting children and their families. As a result of implementation of these projects “Armenian Caritas” came to the decision to continue its efforts to family-based support, keeping main focus on child care and protection in family environment. Monica Khorotyan

Monica Khorotyan, has been selected as our Volunteer of the Month for October, 2017! Monica has been volunteering in “Armenian Caritas” Gyumri Head Office since 2014. She is actively involved in administrative works and mainly helps with “I volunteer because it continuously teaches me something new about people, about cooperation, about compassion, and about myself. In helping others, I am reminded that we are all in this together and we need to remember to support each other. Training sessions by Tong Jahoni International NGO

From the 7th to 10th of November, Valentina Chupik, one of the representatives of Tong Jahoni International NGO in Moscow, visited Armenia within the framework of Promoting Protection of Labour Migrants by Strengthening Partnership in Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Russia program implemented by Armenian Caritas Benevolent NGO. Valentina Chupik is an experienced human rights defender in Russia more specifically specialized in the field of migrants’ rights. So, the purpose of her visit was to conduct training sessions for the employees of State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Issues of the Republic of Armenia, as well as for the employees of “Armenian Caritas” NGO and other NGOs.

For many years now Armenian Caritas BNGO with the support of Caritas Austria/Diocese of Feldkirch has been involved in efforts of solving the problems of persons with disabilities, specifically in Gyumri, Armenia with the establishment of the Aregak Day Care Centre for Children with Multiple Disabilities in 2008.In September 2015 the project activities moved to a newly constructed building and became the Emili Aregak Centre.A joint assessment of Armenian Caritas and Caritas Austria resulted in the idea of a bakery and coffee shop as the most promising opportunity for a social business in Gyumri.
