Family oriented support for children and adolescent in critical circumstances “Little Prince” social centers / Gyumri and Tashir

Location: Gyumri (Shirak Province) and Tashir (Lori Province)

Goal

To contribute to the social protection of disadvantaged children and child protection reforms in Armenia.

Description:

The project strives to integrate disadvantaged children and youth through providing social and psychological work, promotion of healthy lifestyle and educational and life-skills trainings. Other objectives of the project are provision of their families with proper knowledge and skills for improving their social conditions and work with communities and schools for better understanding the children needs and gaining their support for integration of children.

Primary direct target group of the project are 10-18 years old 270 children and youth (180 in Gyumri inclusive center, and 90 in Tashir center) from disadvantaged families and members of their families. These are mainly the families that have low budgets, low parenting abilities, low level of education.

Secondary direct targets are Gyumri and Tashir communities and 12 community secondary schools: 9 schools in Gyumri and 3 in Tashir.

Social Protection of disadvantaged children/youth and their families in Vanadzor and Gavar/ “Little Prince”

Project Duration: 01.01.2010 – Open -Ended

Location: Vanadzor (Lori Province) and Gavar (Gegharkunik Province)

Goal

To contribute to the social protection of children and their families and to the reform of child protection policy in Armenia.

Description:

The project aims at advocating for child protection, provides psycho-social and pedagogical work, basic professional orientation and vocational training, realizing community work and social space work.

Project targets empowering families to cope with the challenges of their everyday life, develop civil society and self-help potentials in communities.

Primary direct target group of the project are 8-18 years old 130 children and youth (90 in Vanadzor, and 40 in Gavar from disadvantaged families.

“Little Prince” Social Center for Children in Artashat

Goal

To contribute to the social protection of disadvantaged children, youth and their families in Artashat and neighboring rural communities

Description:

The aim of the project is to contribute to the integration of disadvantaged children, youth and their family members through providing them with social and psychological services, conducting life skills trainings and promoting healthy lifestyle. Among the objectives of the project is the provision of professional orientation and vocational trainings to the children and their parents, as well as the active cooperation with schools and communities to understand children’s needs and support their effective integration and social inclusion.
