Social Protection of Children

Goal: Sustainable opportunities for the social Inclusion of disadvantaged children and their families

Child protection in Armenia faces a vast variety of challenges, as the child situation in the country is problematic. Topical issues include high rates of poverty and unemployment, working poor, high level of migration with increasing number of women-headed families, a lack of a holistic childcare system, huge number of children in institutions, lack of alternative care services, a weak civil society, etc. Children as one of the most vulnerable groups of a society suffer under these circumstances.

Armenian Caritas responds to these challenges with a holistic approach:

Little Prince in Vanadzor

42_2The opening ceremony of the “Little Prince” Social Center for Children took place on March 22, in Vanadzor. The center was established within the project “Strengthening of children and their families in Vanadzor” . The project is run in cooperation with “Crossing Roads” social NGO, and is funded by Caritas Germany.

Food equal to 2000 Euro and 1002 signatures

41_2Food equal to 2000 Euro and cloths anticipated for 50 families was donated during the “Zero Poverty” campaign, which was undertaken by European Caritas in 2010. The actions within the campaign were carried out by Armenian Caritas Youth Corps.
