The Grigoryans, a couple in a 50-year marriage

Mrs. Victoria and Mr. Volodya is a cheerful couple with over 50 years of a happy marriage with four children. Both parents fell in love and thought of a happy life for the entire family. Mr. Volodya still proudly recalls the days of his work at Soviet “Banvor” newspaper and even at “Pioneer Call” magazine. At the times the work of a correspondent at those editorials was prestigious and fulfilling.

Today they live in a decaying house with two of their four kids on miserable pension and allowances.

Lyuba Nazaretyan, a former orphan is still alone

A newly built apartment building in the front of Gyumri Governor’s office looked very nice and it seemed that all the inhabitants must finally found a refuge after the long post-earthquake years of darkness and cold… A new door was still a hope, but as soon one opens the door a dreadful picture and odor turns back into the old days of disaster and despair. A broken bed is the only place where Mrs. Lyuba spends her days a whole year round without leaving the room.

Mrs. Armine Hovhannisyan, a mother of four children

A rotten container dreadfully catches a sight and at first it is hard to imagine that a human being is able to survive in a pile of rusted iron. A room with adjourning kitchen-like area accommodates 6 people: a young couple with 4 children of 18,15,13 and 1.7 year-old children. Lack of bathroom made the picture more unbearable and walks to “shower” seemed a picture from the distant years of blockade.

The mother, young woman with a permanent flu and a man with amputated ankle grow up the kids with no basic conveniences and stable income.
