The end of the “First Inclusive Bakery and Cafe in Gyumri” program was announced

The solemn closing ceremony of the program “First Inclusive Bakery and Cafe in Gyumri” co-financed by the European Union, “Caritas Austria” and the Austrian Development Fund took place on October 19 at “Hoktember” Cinema in Gyumri. Funded by the European Union, Austrian Development Cooperation and Caritas Austria, the “First Inclusive Bakery and Cafe in Gyumri” project implemented by Armenian Caritas encourages the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the labor market, based on their capacity building.

Within the framework of the project, on September 14, 2018, Gyumri opened its doors to the unique “Aregak” inclusive bakery and cafe in the region to help identify the possibilities of young persons with disabilities,

My Right. Inclusive Education in Armenia and Kosovo

Location: Shirak Region

Overall objective: Contribution to an inclusive and equitable quality education for all, in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal 4, Art 28 and Art 23 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Children, and Art 24 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Project results

  • Individual Support: 80 CWD (Children with disabilities) in Armenia and 70 CWD in Kosovo have received individual support to fully enjoy their right to education.

Memorandums of Understanding were signed among Armenian Caritas BNGO and Lori, Shirak and Gegharkunik Marzpetarans (Regional Administrations).

On June 10, 13 and 20, 2019, the Governor of Lori Region Andrey Ghukasyan, the Governor of Shirak Region Tigran Petrosyan, the Governor of Gegharkunik Region Gnel Sanosyan and the Executive Director of Armenian Caritas BNGO Gagik Tarasyan signed a Memorandum of Understanding undertaking a commitment to multilateral cooperation in order to have the organization’s programs implemented in the communities of the regions more effectively.

During the meetings “ARAMAZD. SMART “project was presented, which is planned to be implemented in a number of consolidated communities of Lori, Shirak, and Gegharkunik regions. The goal of the project is to promote sustainable development opportunities for rural youth through the activation of partnerships and cross-sectoral cooperation among community key stakeholders.

“Creating Together” Two-day open-air Charity Fair Dedicated to the World Refugee Day Took Place in Yerevan

On June 22-23, “Creating Together” two-day open-air Charity Fair dedicated to the World Refugee Day took place on Northern Avenue of Yerevan. The Charity Fair was organised in the framework of the European Union funded “Recognise. Protect. Realise.” project jointly implemented by the Armenian Caritas, Caritas Austria and Caritas Lebanon. The Charity Fair was supported by the Yerevan Municipality. Around 50 Syrian-Armenian and local self-employed persons and social enterprises participated in the Fair and showcased their handicrafts and jewelry.

“The aim of the Fair is to promote economic integration of Syrian Armenians and local population as well as facilitate mutual socio-cultural integration,”

“We are the Change” Exchange Visit

In April 3-7, 2019 “Armenian Caritas” benevolent NGO hosted the Austrian participants of the project “We are the Change”. The project has been initiated by youngCaritas Austria and was funded by the European Union’s “Erasmus +” program. The project implementation was assisted by Caritas Austria and Armenian Caritas within the project “HIV/AIDs Prevention in the Post-Soviet Countries”.

The aim of the visit was to gain as much information as possible about Armenia, as well as two projects ran by Armenian Caritas in Vanadzor (“Sabine” small group house; “Little Prince” social center).
