Christmas Magic for forcibly displaced children and elderly from Nagorno Karabakh

Project duration: December 01, 2024 – February 28, 2025

Number of beneficiaries: 1250/895 children under the age of 10 and 355 elderly individuals

Location: Ararat, Gegharkunik, Lori, Shirak, Syunik provinces and Yerevan

The  aim of the project to bring joy to displaced children and elderly individuals during the Christmas season by providing Christmas presents and sweets.

Background

The “ARAMAZD: SEED” project fosters sustainable socio-economic growth in Armenia’s border provinces (Gegharkunik, Lori, and Shirak) by empowering local stakeholders and advancing social economy initiatives. It aims to boost employability and generate sustainable economic opportunities through cross-sector collaboration, capacity building, and the development of social enterprises.

On December 26, the Armenian Caritas 2024 Annual Summary Meeting took place, with the presence of the authorized representative of the President of Armenian Caritas, Rev. Father Narek Vrd.   1. Context & background

The Civil Protection system in Armenia is currently mainly based on professional responders from governmental institutions. They are to a large extent on-duty firefighters and other paid staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES). But Armenia has numerous remote areas particularly affected by the limited coverage through the regional fire and rescue services.
