On December 19, AC year-end meeting took place at Emily Aregak Center headed by the president of Armenian Caritas Raphael Archbishop Minassian. The activities of 2018 were summed up during the meeting, which was started with blessings of Archbishop Minassian and the Lord’s Prayer.
“Caritas is not just a common workplace, where you can hold a well-paid position. Caritas is a humanitarian, charitable mission, which seeks to improve social life, to help people, to serve and support people with disabilities. In these fields Caritas officials should be only humanists. So our approach for 2019 must be kind, but, at the same time, very strict. Personnel must not be valued based on their work, but the way they do it, so they should be paid and continue their work accordingly. For this purpose, I appoint a new position in Caritas who will be responsible for visiting all the centers to see the achievements and gaps and present those to the attention of the central office by offering solutions, if needed.
Working age should be defined in Caritas. AC policy and regulation should be developed and presented to everyone.
Finally, the health insurance system must also be introduced this year. The participation and the competence of the staff regarding to this issue must be clarified”,- Archbishop Minasyan mentioned in his speech.
Then the president of the organization gave his feedback about the activities of 2018, underlining the future actions of 2019.
The executive director of Armenian Caritas Gagik Tarasyan also summed up the year, highlighting the achievements of the organization. The annual budget of the organization is about 2 million 500 thousand Euros. About 60 projects have been implemented. The director thanked the project managers for their work. The activities of the financial department were also highlighted.
AC institutional development officer Anahit Gevorgyan presented the results of the anonymous survey among the organization’s employees on “how well they feel themselves in Caritas”, focusing on the personal and organizational achievements and growth, challenges they see and their suggestions for improvements. “Caritas is not a job, but devotion”, – Anahit Gevorgyan added. Within the framework of the meeting a handicraft fair of Armenian Caritas beneficiaries was held.
