For many years now Armenian Caritas BNGO with the support of Caritas Austria/Diocese of Feldkirch has been involved in efforts of solving the problems of persons with disabilities, specifically in Gyumri, Armenia with the establishment of the Aregak Day Care Centre for Children with Multiple Disabilities in 2008.
In September 2015 the project activities moved to a newly constructed building and became the Emili Aregak Centre.
A joint assessment of Armenian Caritas and Caritas Austria resulted in the idea of a bakery and coffee shop as the most promising opportunity for a social business in Gyumri. Background

Objectives of the project

  • -To contribute to the financial sustainability and diversification of resources of the Emili Aregak Centre
  • -To set up a barrier-free and inclusive bakery and coffee shop in Gyumri
  • -To promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in the labour market
