November 20th is the World Children’s day. On November 20th Caritas India organized the World Summit of child leaders, inviting children from Caritas Confederation across the globe. Around 100 Child Leaders, CSOs, INGOs and Govt. Representatives from India and other countries participated in the Summit. Armenian Caritas was represented by child speaker Tatevik Asatryan, youth club member of the project ”My Right. Inclusive Education in Armenia and Kosovo”.  Tatevik spoke on the name of all children of Armenia and Artsakh, presenting the challenges and violence children faced during COVID 19 pandemic and war in Artsakh.

With her speech Tatevik called all organizations on human rights to pay more attention to the most vulnerable part of our society: children.

”… Today, more than ever, our children are in need of support.

Today, more than ever, I want to see a world where human lives, children lives are at least as important as the kangaroos and koalas of Australia, Notre-dame in Paris, forests in Amazon.

Today, more than ever, I want a world, were my voice would be heard and my rights would be protected by all conventions and international organizations on Human rights.

You say “Investing in our future means investing in our children”. Today, on the World Children’s Day I ask you to invest peace, love, care for each other, opportunities for education in our future, and I promise from the name of millions of children, that you will get a world were discrimination, wars, violence will not have a place, because we are the future of this world.

Today, on the name of all children of Armenia and Artsakh, I call on all international human rights organizations to adhere to their own standards, and not to prioritize political interests over human rights. And I truly hope that after such a failure, these structures will be able to rediscover their real values that until now we believed in without any doubts...”

The world summit of child leaders was aimed at

  • providing a platform to Child Leaders across the World to voice their concerns and recommendations to end violence against children.
  • developing a World Charter of Recommendations for Ending Violence against Children and dialogue with Stakeholders globally.
