Needs Assessment of Displaced Population from Nagorno-Karabakh Republic

Goal: The goal of the project was to identify gaps in the humanitarian crises in NK by collecting information on the location and needs of vulnerable, conflict-affected households and provided assistance by other players in the field.

Activities: During the escalations of hostilities in April 2016, several villages and towns of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic were heavily or partially damaged. The population from the communities of Talish, Mataghis, Tonashen and Martakert fled to safer places – either within the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh or to different provinces of Armenia. According to estimations by several sources, in total around 3.000-4.000 people were displaced as a result of the escalations of hostilities.
With the technical support of Catholic Relief Services (CRS), needs assessment teams were formed by “AC” to collect information from the displaced population in Armenia and NK in order to respond the humanitarian crisis accordingly.
Based on the observations and recommendations of Needs Assessment Report a project proposal was elaborated and sent to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) for approval. The project proposed cash-based assistance to the displaced households having members of children under 14, pregnant women and new mothers, people with disabilities and chronic diseases, etc.
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) approved the project proposal with the total budget of 22.303 Euro.
