Training Module: “Building an Inclusive Volunteer Team”
Armenian Caritas Benevolent NGO has developed the “Building an Inclusive Volunteer Team” training module within the framework of the “Institutionalization of Volunteer First Response Service in Armenia” (VolFiRe) project. The module aims to strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of volunteer group members, team leaders, and other stakeholders in the areas of gender equality, diversity, and the inclusion of persons with disabilities.
The module promotes the development of a volunteer environment in which every person, regardless of gender, disability, or other characteristics, has an equal opportunity to participate in community initiatives. It combines theoretical knowledge, participatory learning methods, group discussions, and practical exercises to help participants identify barriers to participation and develop more inclusive approaches.
The training package includes four interconnected thematic modules addressing the value of diversity and inclusion, stereotypes and barriers to participation, the promotion of the participation of women and persons with disabilities, and the development of an inclusive volunteer team culture. The package is complemented by a trainer’s guide, assessment tools, and practical learning materials. 
Within the framework of the VolFiRe project, Armenian Caritas, being responsible for the project’s inclusion component, converted the already developed “Operational Procedures for Volunteer Fire and Rescue Teams” and the “Manual on the Organizational Activities of Volunteer Fire and Rescue Teams” into an Easy-to-Read format, making the information clearer and easier to understand. This work aims to improve the accessibility of information and ensure that important information is available and understandable to people with diverse needs.
