June 30 was a special day for “Armenian Caritas.” The initiating founder and Board Member of “AC” Mrs. Zevart Nadjarjan was awarded a Gold Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
To acknowledge the efforts and dedication of Mrs. Nadjarian, the RA MoD convened a ceremony in honor of Mr. and Mr. Nadjarian awarding also a prominent journalist Mr. Nadjarian whose contribution to the newly independent Armenian can hardly be overestimated. The MoD Minister Mrs. Hranush Hakobyan highly appreciated the contribution this family made during all these years and mentioned that “our country has been developed by genuine efforts and profound contribution of such people as Nadjarian family.”
The decision of the Nadjarians to enter Armenia in mid-1990th was based on the insupportable socio-economical and living conditions of the people after the Independence, the disastrous earthquake of 1988 and the long-standing economic blockade. Thus the establishment of a Caritas and engagement into relief and development activities was launched. In 1996, Mrs. Zevart Nadjarian as a member of the Board of Directors, consisting of a President and six other members, established the strategy of the organization and supervised its implementation. To diversify the organization’s programmatic base, its institutional capacity needed to be strengthened. This was achieved through the assistance of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to Armenia where Mrs. Nadjarian was the Director and an International Consultant. The knowledgeable and consistent efforts of Mrs. Nadjarian’s shaped the future of “Armenian Caritas.”
“Armenian Caritas” President Archbishop Raphael Minassian and staff members headed by Programs’ Manager Mrs. Anahit Gevorgyan also participated at the ceremony to honor the Nadjarians and express their gratitude for all dedication and care exhibited by the family. Nadjarians younger generation hopefully will continue the dedication.
A warm and friendly reception wrapped- up the ceremony.
