Location: Gyumri
Beneficiaries: Students and teachers of Gyumri branch of FAAA
Goal: Installation of Solar Photovoltaic Small Power station
Description: Alongside with the truly significant achievements during these years, unfortunately today the Academy of Fine Arts has a number of problems. The most important of these is the university budget and budget allocation. The problem is that the bulk of the university’s budget goes to staff salaries and building maintenance, payment of utilities. Every year they only have to pay millions of drams for heating and electricity, which they could spend each year on renovating academy labs, buying new equipment, implementing international art projects and reducing student tuition fees.
More specifically each year for only electricity the institution pays 750,000-850,000 AMD on average, which can be directed really to the improvement and development of education quality.
Due to the development of modern technologies, today, if they can install solar panels on university’s roof, it will reduce the electricity costs to zero, and that money will be spent annually on the preservation of Armenian culture and educational system development.
