During this period when doctors have been at the forefront fighting to manage the pandemic, while the rest of the population must quarantine, many difficulties arise and need to be managed collectively – at this moment, Armenia Caritas sees itself in the role of promoting actions to mitigate this situation.

As soon as the state of emergency was declared, Armenia Caritas began its work in assisting the community in various sectors. The first action was to donate 200 protective shield masks and 200 protective medical equipment to the staff of the Emergency Station at the Infection Hospital of Gyumri, in cooperation with the Shirak Regional administration.

In times of social isolation, several families find themselves in difficulty, therefore, Armenia Caritas delivered 1259 packages of food and hygiene items to people with disabilities, elderly people in critical conditions, vulnerable children and their families in 4 regions of Armenia.
Moreover, people with disabilities and families of children in critical conditions were provided with extended care and constant remote monitoring and consulting, as well as the lonely elderly people, that are visited in urgent cases. Full-time care for children without parental care and assistance to their families have been provided at the Sabine Small group house, which is functioning in a 24/7 regime.
Beyond that, 15 efficient ovens and 4 tons of Eco briquettes were donated to socially vulnerable families in Gyumri.

Staying true to its mission, Armenia Caritas is proud of the work that has been done in collaboration with the State, its stakeholders, and volunteers, urging a sense of community and charity to assist the most vulnerable during such a delicate period.
