The initiative was launched by the “Armenian Caritas” BNGO with the financial support of USAID and the Peace Corps, thanks to the efforts of Armenian Caritas and Peace Corps volunteer Caleb Barefield. By his initiative the center was repaired and technically replenished, which will serve not only the beneficiaries of the “Little Prince” center, but also other youth of the community. Now the project provides the children of the center with an opportunity to have trainings and meetings in a pleasant and repaired room. Due to the equipment purchased within the framework of the proյect, computer classes or movie screenings can be organized in the center.
The official opening of the center took place on May 25. Not only the beneficiaries of the “Little Prince” center of Gavar were happy with the opening, but also those who made the center’s activity a reality. The Programs’ Manager of Armenian Caritas Anahit Gevorgyan, the Director of Peace Corps in Armenia Sonny Loui, and the Director of USAID in Armenia Deborah Gizri visited Gavar to share their joy with children of the center. At the grand opening of the center the traditional red ribbon was cut off by the Heads of three organizations as a sign of successful joint initiative.

The Priest of Gegharkunik Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Gnel Martirosyan had the honor to welcome the attendees and the guests first. He thanked all the stakeholders for their care towards the children. “Our most tengible reward will be that our children become right and serious citizens not only for our country but also for the world”- the Priest Gnel Martirosyan said.

“The environment promotes good ideas, and I think that this center is the best place for educating the active and intelligent citizens”- the Programs’ Manager of Armenian Caritas Anahit Gevorgyan mentioned in her speech and thanked the partner organizations, especially the volunteer Caleb Barefield for their initiative and support.

The Director of Peace Corps in Armenia Sonny Loui, and the Head of USAID in Armenia Deborah Gizri also mentioned that the initiative is positive and effective. At the same time they expressed their readiness to support such kind of projects.
