October 1 is celebrated as the International Day of  elderly. It is an opportunity to give a respect to those people who earned the right to have a dignified old age and a chance to refer to their problems and find ways of solving them. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the country and society to provide decent living conditions for older persons and take care of them.

“Armenian Caritas” believes that  elderly people in Armenia deserve to lead a worthy life, to receive free first aid from the country and use social, cultural as well as home health care services.

And today, according to the tradition, the administration and volunteers of the centre did everything in order to single out the day for the beneficiaries.

The event started with the greeting and prayer of the priest Fr. Hovsep Galstyan, saying:

“Seeing the potential of our  elderly people we assure that they have such a power inside that can inspire us – young people. This feast has a goal – make the society keep you in the focus of attention, proving another time that we all love you very much.”

The Vice-Mayor of Gyumri Hayk Sultanyan also  congratulate .“On behalf of Samvel Balasanyan and me  I congratulate you. Armenian people always loved and respected their  elderly. I thank the “Armenian Caritas” as well for realizing such kind of programs that serve for the benefit of old-aged people.”

We must remember you every second, because you  remind us about our past the way it exists and hence teach us a lot. You are the founders of our past.” – congratulated everyone the responsible of  the strategic direction “Social inclusion and care of elderly’’ of “Armenian Caritas” Flora Sargsyan and wish all health and welfare.

Finally, till the beneficiaries awaited festive treat and joyful song and dance, the Vice-Mayor got acquainted with the conditions of “Day Care Centre for the Elderly” and then with the staff of the Home Care program of Armenian Caritas visited 100 years old Mariam Yeghiazaryan, the beneficiary of the program.
