53The topics of migration and trafficking have widely been discussed in different dimentions. These topics, however, have a huge emotional charge especially when seen through the eyes of an artist. On the 27th of May, Armenian Caritas, BNGO organized an exhibition at the Yerevan State P. Terlemezyan College of Arts to share this perspective.Before the exhibition, students attended film screenings followed by discussions on migration and trafficking. As a result, 42 studends submitted 53 works of art that included paintings, graphics, sculpture and escalations. A jury of 6 people: college lecturer of the History of Art, Elena Movsesyan; Independent Expert Julia Brümmer, Armenian Caritas Project Managers Movses Hakobyan and Aram Khachaturyan, Project Coordinator Gohar Yeranyan as well as Financial Assistance Stella Vostanyants evaluated the submissions on a scale of 1 to 5 based on these criteria:

  2. Clarity of the message; and
  3. Innovative idea for realization.

Prizes for the best works of art on trafficking were awarded to:

1st place – Gor Arushtanyan for his “Choir of Slaves” painting (80,000 AMD);

2nd place – Gayane Avetisyan  for “ Trafficking” painting (50,000 AMD) ; and

3rd place – Mane Artashesyan and Shushan Hambartzumyan for their paintings (30,000 AMD each).

Prises for the best works of art on migration were:

1st place – Irina Arzumanyan for “Reintegration” escalation; and

 2nd place – Meri Torgomyan forn “A View to Past” escalation.

 Those who didn’t win got notebooks and, which is more important, their art will be used in future Armenian Caritas BNGO publications.
