Building Local Capacities to Reduce Illegal Migration and Trafficking

Within the framework of “Building Local Capacities to Reduce Illegal Migration and Trafficking” Project implemented by “Armenian Caritas” Benevolent NGO, a report titled “Armenian Labour Migrants in Russian Federation: Difficulties Abroad and Challenges at Home” was conducted. The target regions were, and Gegharkunik, Lori and Shirak provinces and it was conducted through regional partner NGOs’ channels and compiled by the expert, Valentina Gevorgyan. The report aimed at finding out what the reasons for Armenian migrations to leave for the Russian Federation are, what kind of challenges they face in the Russian Federation and what the issues encountered in Armenia after their return are.

General Information

ACVC/ Armenian Caritas Volunteer Corps

History: Armenian Caritas (hereinafter AC) volunteer is a core carrier of organization’s mission and ideology. Since the very establishment of the organization volunteers have been involved in different fields of its operations. 
Understanding the potential of united and mobilized volunteers, since 2009 AC has committed itself to set up Armenian Caritas Youth Corps (hereinafter ACYC), which will bring together the current and potential volunteers of AC around common interests and common concerns. In 2014 the ACYC was renamed Armenian Caritas Volunteer Corps (ACVC). Currently about 80 volunteers are involved in various AC projects.

“Civic Activism in Consolidated Community”

Project Duration: 01.10.2017 – 30.09.2018

Number of Beneficiaries: 300 inhabits of Sarapat community

Location: Shirak Province, Sarapat community

Goal: Activation of Sarapat consolidated community villages  through promotion of effective equitable participation in the community development processes

Description:

  • Raising public awareness and participation motivation of Sarapat community
  • Identification of active inhabitants in the settlements of Sarapat, formation of active groups.
  • Organization of workshops with a goal of capacity building of the active groups.
